Well hello there. Guess what I went looking for when the urge for good ice cream got too strong.
I'm like the cat that got the cream and wants to gloat about it. After loving Salted Gula Melaka and Teh Tarik, I've decided I need to work my way across all of The Last Polka's flavours. Next up: Malt & Peanut Butter and French Toast.
What still impresses me is how the ice creams taste like what's actually written on the box. Malt & Peanut Butter was rounded, buttery and did have a je ne sais quoi that I can can only attribute to the malt. I was pleased it wasn't a straightforward interpretation of peanut butter which is often the case with derivatives of this popular spread. French Toast was ample with cinnamon - which I adore - and was even fragrant when I opened the tub. Did I get a hint of actual toast in there? There was once when I made brown bread ice cream with toasted brown breadcrumbs and this flavour had the same baked dimension.
If I had to choose I'd say I marginally preferred M&PB. I think it's the kiddy factor from the peanut butter with an adulterated twist. And happy adulteration works for me.
I'm hooked. This time I made a special trip to The Bee in Jaya One as French Toast is only available there. Keep watching this space for more Polka-ing! P.S. The Bee itself looked cute - another visit just for them next time too!

y'know what i'd like? to have a massive scoop of the last polka's french toast ice cream on a plate with REAL french toast, all hot and buttery. that could be an unbeatable breakfast combination! :D
WHOA. I wonder if The Bee could do that with their Elvis Brunch Sandwich?! http://www.thebee.com.my/brunch
Sigh, can you ask them to open a branch in MV/The Gardens?
Dear The Last Polka, When will you open a branch in MV/The Gardens?
:-)
Malt!!! Do they deliver? ;)
I really wish I could export this stuff overseas. One Malaysian brand I'm really proud of!
Hey folks, MV/The Gardens — that would be lovely, no plans for a mall location at the moment though. But we ARE plotting our own standalone scoop shop; still scouting for locations.
Baby Sumo, for now the closest to that would be Marmalade at Bangsar Village II :) They carry all our flavours except black sesame and french toast.
tried singapore's home brand, but i havent get to try the malaysia ones.
glad to hear that marmalade has the last polka :) will spend some times grab 'em
Hi Ai Wei! Ooh what's Singapore's home brand?? HF
I have followed the Last Polka since they first started but actually haven't tried them before! MUST DO SO when I am back in Asia!
